Job description
Field Service Engineer - Mechanical Bias

Up to £40,000 basic (OTE circa £70k). Company car. Industry‑leading staff benefits. Overtime paid door‑to‑door. UK travel with some overseas work.

Are you a mechanically minded engineer who loves getting hands‑on with complex kit, solving problems on the fly, and keeping high‑performance machinery running at its best?

Here's your chance to join one of the print industry's most respected global machinery manufacturers — a leader in advanced print & packaging technology — as they strengthen their UK service team.

You'll be working on some of print's most sophisticated production and post‑press systems, supporting major manufacturing sites across the UK (and occasionally overseas). If you want a role where your mechanical skill is genuinely valued — and where you'll benefit from world‑class training, high earning potential, and excellent benefits — this is it.

As long as you're within good reach of the motorway network, you're in scope.

What You'll Do

Install, service, maintain and repair advanced print production / post‑press machinery at customer sites.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults, mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, drives, and general machine performance issues.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Travel across the UK with varied weekly work and exposure to a broad range of machinery (occasional overseas trips included).
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Strong Earnings - Up to £40k basic with realistic OTE around £60-70k (overtime paid door‑to‑door).
  • Premium Company Car – “User chooser” scheme; current engineers drive Mercedes A‑Class, Audi A3, BMW 2‑Series etc.
  • Variety & Travel – UK‑wide work with the chance to travel internationally.
  • 25 Days Holiday Bank Hols – With average holiday pay so overtime isn’t lost.
  • Healthcare & protection – Medicash, life insurance, and private medical after 5 years.
  • Long‑Term Stability – Outstanding pension scheme (employer contributions rise with service — up to 2× your own after 10 years).
  • Generous Overtime Rates – Time & a half after 18:00 and Saturdays; double time Sundays & bank holidays; UK & overseas overnight allowances.
  • Full Training – Continuous development on world‑leading machinery and a clear progression path within a global engineering team.
What We're Looking For

A mechanically biased engineer with strong fault‑finding ability and a hands‑on mindset.

  • Experience in field service, maintenance, fitting, installation, or heavy/complex machinery (print, packaging, FMCG, manufacturing or industrial environments welcome).
  • Someone comfortable working independently on complex mechanical systems.
  • Flexibility to travel UK‑wide with time away from home (approx. 100 nights per year).
  • Based in England, ideally near major motorway routes (M1, M6, M40, M4 etc.).
The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to join a financially robust, globally recognised machinery manufacturer that truly invests in its engineers. If you're seeking technical challenge, variety, exceptional training, and strong long‑term rewards, this could be the move that levels up your career.
