Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Engineer specialising in Forklifts to join our dynamic service team. In this role, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and commissioning of a wide range of forklift trucks and material handling equipment at customer sites. You will provide technical expertise, ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently, and deliver outstanding service that meets our customer satisfaction standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site diagnostics, fault finding, and repairs on diesel, electric, LPG, and hybrid forklift trucks.
  • Conduct routine servicing and preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Install and commission new or refurbished forklifts at customer premises.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and reports using digital service tools or mobile apps.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
  • Identify and escalate potential warranty claims and equipment improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain a professional image and represent the company positively during all customer interactions.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours service rotation, as required.
Requirements
  • Essential:
  • Proven experience as a field service engineer, technician, or mechanic working with forklifts or similar industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostic skills.
  • Understanding of forklift safety regulations and industry standards (e.g. LOLER, PUWER).
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own time and workload efficiently.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer or mobile device proficiency for digital reporting.
  • Desirable:
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant, Forklift, Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with brands such as Toyota, Hyster, Linde, Yale, Jungheinrich, or Crown.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Experience using service management software or apps.
