Field Service Engineer - Fire Alarm Systems

Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 per annum

Location: Field-based (regional travel required)

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm)

About the Role

Pertemps Recruitment are excited to be working with a well-established, national organisation specialising in fire safety systems. We're looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their growing maintenance team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, problem-solving on site, and providing outstanding customer service. You'll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and modifications on fire alarm systems across your regional area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on fire alarm and fire safety systems to the highest standards.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and unscheduled work, meeting agreed service levels.
  • Diagnose faults and complete remedial work efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate service worksheets and reports, ensuring compliance with BS5839 and company procedures.
  • Provide professional, customer-focused service at all times.
  • Maximise opportunities for on-site remedial work.
  • Follow health & safety guidelines, wearing correct PPE and using tools/equipment appropriately.
  • Support installation teams when required to meet project deadlines.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer or similar role within fire safety or security systems.
  • Strong understanding of BS5839 standards and fire alarm system maintenance.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT skills for completing service reports and using diagnostic software.
  • Full UK driving licence (company vehicle provided).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a proactive attitude.
  • FIA qualifications or equivalent (desirable; further FIA training may be offered).
