Responsible for: Installing Fibre, Copper structured cabling and Network Devices
On-site training will be provided.
Job Purpose
We are looking for individuals who would like to enter the Fibre and Cat 6 Structured Cabling environment as an Installer to join our growing team. This role involves travelling to various sites across the UK to install, terminate, and test fibre optic and Cat 6 cabling systems. You will be required to stay overnight in hotels during the working week.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Cabling Installation: Install and terminate fibre optic and Cat 6 structured cabling at client sites to meet the clients\' standards.
- Installation of Networking Devices into Racks.
- Perform testing and certification of installed cabling using tools such as OTDRs and Fluke testers.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve faults in fibre optic and Cat 6 cabling systems.
- Conduct repairs, splicing, and replacements as required.
- Compliance and Reporting: Follow all health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, tests, and completed work for reporting purposes.
- Complete RAM\'s documentation and act on identified risks
- Client Interaction: Liaise with clients professionally to ensure project specifications are fully understood and delivered.
- Provide feedback and updates on progress to project managers and stakeholders.
- Operate the customers Service Now system to provide drawings, Photos and "as built" information.
- Travel and Logistics: on-site
Key Skills and Competencies
All training will be provided on-site and online; no prior experience required.
- Ability to install Network Devices into racks.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment, such as light source power meters.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and positive team player.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential:
- A Team Player
- Ability to follow instructions from the Technical Team Leader
- Physically fit
- A valid UK clean driving licence.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and stay overnight.
- Desirable but not essential:
- City and Guilds
- Fibre certification
- Cat 5/6 installation certification
- Knowledge of -48V DC power termination
