Job summary

A local care support organization is seeking a Female Personal Assistant in Wishaw to support a lady with epilepsy and other disabilities. Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, and encouraging participation in social activities. The role offers a guaranteed position of up to 30 hours per week at £13 per hour. Training will be provided, and good interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Driving licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance including showering and toileting.
  • Assist with mobility using a manual wheelchair.
  • Monitor and support seizure activity when necessary.
  • Prompt for medication and assist with PEG feeding.
  • Support with social activities and daily living tasks.

Job description
Overview

Female Personal Assistant required to assist a lady with epilepsy, and acquired brain injury, with physical and neurological disabilities, living in the Wishaw area.

You would be required to provide two-to-one care alongside another person and assistance within their home, and in the community, including attending to personal care and participation in social activities.

Responsibilities
  • Attending to all personal care needs (showering, toileting, including bowel movements, changing pads)
  • Moving and assisting — pushing manual wheelchair, using a mobile hoist
  • Monitoring and supporting with epileptic seizure activity and following emergency procedures when necessary
  • Prompting for medication
  • PEG feeding is required
  • Going out with the wheelchair for walks
  • Going out shopping for clothes
  • Household shopping
  • Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
Personal interests

Favourite activities are watching TV, chatting, shopping, and being out in the fresh air. Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs. The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Hours and Compensation
  • Guaranteed permanent position of up to 30 hours per week
  • Days and Times: Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm (during the first 1-2 weeks 9am – 1pm)
  • Evening shifts may be required approximately 7pm – 9pm; this will be discussed at interview
  • Hourly Rate: £13.00 per hour
