A social care organisation is seeking a Home Help/PA in Sunderland to provide personal care, assist with cooking, and support household chores. The ideal candidate should be experienced in caring roles, possess good communication skills, and be flexible with hours. The job includes cooking meals, assisting with personal care, and facilitating social activities. Hours are up to 20 hours per week, primarily during weekday mornings and evenings.

Due to Multiple Chemical Sensitivites, the household is totally fragrance free due to severe reactions. These reactions can be triggered by any fragrance including perfume, laundry products, even a strong smelling deodorant and due to working closely together, I do need this taken into consideration when applying for the position. Thank you. I am currently flexible to some degree with time and days however, it is vital that the agreed weekly planned hours are fulfilled. I am a woman diagnosed with multiple complex disabilities. I have a good sense of humour and have a positive outlook on life and a strong interest in healthy living and good food. I enjoy a holistic lifestyle including meditation, arts and crafts and being out in my garden. I am predominantly housebound and my mobility is very limited. My wheelchair requires lifting and pushing. I find it difficult to do basic daily tasks and I am prone to falling. I have severe food allergies which requires very specific handling of food and severe reactions to chemicals. I struggle with speech, understanding others and short-term memory therefore patience, listening skills and good communication is absolutely essential. A driving license and own car is preferred but not absolutely necessary for the right applicant.
The duties of my Home Help/PA would include:
Cooking: I need someone very confident in the kitchen to prepare meals in batches to specific recipes. Must be happy to use equipment such as an electric pressure cooker and food processor. A Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate would be ideal however, this can be completed once in post which would be funded by myself. Previous cooking experience preferred but an enthusiastic and competent foodie with great kitchen skills would also be considered.
Day-to-day chores: such as laundry and housework completed to a very high standard. My home needs to be kept to a very high standard of cleanliness at all times due to my illnesses. You really need to enjoy cleaning and have a good eye for detail.
Facilitation: with admin and paperwork, computer work, light gardening, activities inside and outside of the home and accompanying to medical appointments. I am looking for someone who is honest, empathic, patient, caring and conscientious with a positive and cheery disposition. They must be hard working, reliable and flexible with a very strong sense of confidentiality and honesty. I need someone to really enjoy their job and who wants to invest in learning about me and the role. It is important that I can work well with someone who has a similar work ethic and standards as myself.

Cooking; I need someone very confident, with experience in the kitchen to prepare meals in batches to very specific recipes, this will be the main focus of the position. You will also work closely with me to create food plans and try different recipe.
The individual's needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and/or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.
First Aid. PA must already hold relevant qualification.
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours per week. Preferred hours: 3 weekday mornings from 10am until 2pm, 3 or 4 weekday evenings for 1.5 hours from 5 / 5.30pm and 2 hours after 10am Sunday morning.
