Job description

Technical Operations, Resources and Services (TORS) provide high quality technical support for teaching, research and practical activities within the University. The Fashion Design team is committed to providing highly skilled technical support for a wide variety of equipment, software and facilities relating to Fashion Design.

As a Fashion Design Technician, you will play a key part in a small team, providing expert guidance and specialist expertise within Fashion Design, primarily supporting the production of garments, through pattern cutting, machining, and digital production.

As a Fashion Technician, you will be student facing and sited within the HPO Building, city centre. Knowledge and experience in the selection of appropriate techniques is key to this role, you will also provide advice and solutions for a wide range of staff, student and research projects.

You will work closely with the Senior Technician on the day to day activities that support our students. This will include session prep, demonstrations, or providing individual support to students working on their design projects.

You must have excellent communication skills, and the self-confidence to liaise with staff, students and stakeholders at all levels. You'll be committed to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate a professional approach, when managing enquiries, and giving advice, guidance and information. You will be able to plan, organise and prioritise your own work in a proactive and flexible manner, and work to deadlines whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
