Overview

Job Title: Children and Family Worker

Location: Featherstone Town Hall - Wakfield

Pay: £15.43

Reporting to: Team Manager – Intensive Support Team

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with children and families to support safe care within the family.
  • Deliver individual and group interventions.
  • Provide observations and recommendations to support assessments.
  • Report safeguarding concerns to social workers/managers.
  • Support families in building positive relationships and social confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
  • Promote high-quality services and personal development.
  • Comply with health & safety, data protection, and council policies.
Knowledge Requirements

Essential:

  • Child development and needs (physical/emotional).
  • Barriers to learning and development.
  • Family stress and its impact.
  • Safeguarding awareness and procedures.

Desirable:

  • Childcare law knowledge.
Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Time management and flexibility.
  • Sensitivity in dealing with families in crisis.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with families and professionals.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years working with children/families in difficulty.

Qualifications

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
