Job Title: Children and Family Worker
Location: Featherstone Town Hall - Wakfield
Pay: £15.43
Reporting to: Team Manager – Intensive Support Team
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with children and families to support safe care within the family.
- Deliver individual and group interventions.
- Provide observations and recommendations to support assessments.
- Report safeguarding concerns to social workers/managers.
- Support families in building positive relationships and social confidence.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
- Promote high-quality services and personal development.
- Comply with health & safety, data protection, and council policies.

- Child development and needs (physical/emotional).
- Barriers to learning and development.
- Family stress and its impact.
- Safeguarding awareness and procedures.
Desirable:
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Time management and flexibility.
- Sensitivity in dealing with families in crisis.
- Ability to build effective relationships with families and professionals.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years working with children/families in difficulty.
- Outreach or one-to-one work with parents/carers.
- Experience delivering group parenting programmes.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Working Conditions
- May include work outside normal office hours.
- Eligible for essential car user allowance.
- Must comply with Council’s Smoking Policy.
