THIS ROLE

This role will cover 40 hours per week, split into 5 shifts of 8 hours. Shifts will include daytime, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, and will be allocated in advance on a rota basis. The successful applicant must be willing to work at these times. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Operative (Trade) - Plumbing will lead on our plumbing trade, and the Facilities Operative (Trade) - Electrical and Mechanical will lead on our electrical and mechanical tasks. Both will undertake hands‑on scheduled & reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring that they are carried out to the highest standards within agreed timescales. They will assist the Facilities Manager and Head of Department to ensure that the building systems and services are maintained and operated to the highest standards, minimising equipment down time and ensuring repairs are completed in a timely manner. Supported by the Facilities Manager, the role will act as day lead for the team, including setting routine tasks and duties as per the agreed rota. This role will also support the mechanical & electrical engineer with plant room maintenance and building management systems.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

We're looking for someone with demonstrable hands‑on plumbing or electrician experience; especially if you have specialist training or qualifications. You'll also need a good general experience of other hands‑on skills like building maintenance, painting, woodworking and lamp replacement. You'll have a good standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills, including using Office 365.
