Job description
Overview

ARK is expanding its Military Talent Pool to support upcoming projects. We are seeking expressions of interest from highly qualified individuals with specialist expertise to provide advisory, training, and strategic support across a range of domains.

We welcome applications from veterans and service leavers with the following profiles:

Cyber, Communications and Strategic Communications

  • We are seeking specialists across cyber, strategic communications, and signals, with profiles including former Royal Signals officers and SNCOs, CEMA, 77X, or civilian equivalents with cyber expertise. Candidates may be tactical subject matter experts or senior advisors with experience in policy, doctrine, and capability development. We also welcome those with backgrounds in military strategic communications, information operations, or influence activities, such as former 77th Brigade officers, Defence Media Operations personnel, or staff with MOD, PJHQ, or Army HQ communications strategy experience. Desired skills include messaging, audience analysis, countering disinformation, and integrating communications into operational and strategic planning, with particular value placed on advising partner militaries on communications and influence capabilities. Additionally, we are looking for experienced military communications and signals officers, especially those with training and advisory expertise.

Tactics & Doctrine Development

  • Former officers with experience in doctrine writing, operational concept development, or tactical innovation. Relevant backgrounds may include staff roles at the Land Warfare Centre, Army HQ, Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC), or operational analysis appointments, especially within international contexts. Officers from combat or combat support arms with staff experience in tactics and doctrine development are particularly encouraged to apply.

Training Development & Strategic Advisory

  • Senior instructors and advisors with experience designing and implementing training pathways, professional military education, and institutional development. We are particularly interested in former Educational and Training Services (ETS) officers, as well as those who have served as instructors at the Defence Academy, Staff College, or specialist schools. Candidates with experience in advising on career development frameworks, building partner force training institutions, or shaping national-level training strategies are especially encouraged to apply.

Urban Operations

  • Former instructors with experience in designing and delivering training for urban operations. We are particularly interested in those with backgrounds in light infantry, mechanised infantry, and combined arms training, as well as expertise in urban tactics. This may include service as instructors at the Infantry Battle School, Warminster, or overseas training units, and experience mentoring partner forces. Relevant operational experience in urban environments is an advantage, but the priority is proven ability to develop others through training and capacity building.

Military Gender Specialists

  • Advisors with formal gender training and experience applying it in military contexts. We are particularly interested in former officers or SNCOs who have completed the NATO Gender Advisor Course or the UK Defence Gender / Human Security Advisor Course, and those with staff experience in Army HQ, PJHQ, or MOD policy roles working on UNSCR 1325 (Women, Peace & Security) and JSP 1325 implementation. Operational deployment as a GENAD, or experience integrating gender perspectives into planning, training, or partner force development, would be a strong advantage.

Logistics & Procurement

  • Former professional military logisticians or MOD civilians with staff-level experience in planning, supply chain management, and commercial procurement. Suitable profiles include officers from the Royal Logistic Corps or equivalent with backgrounds in brigade/divisional staff roles, Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), or other appointments involving strategic logistics, procurement, and capability development. Candidates should bring expertise beyond unit-level resupply, with a focus on operational and strategic-level planning and delivery and sourcing / working with Defence / external contractors.

International Humanitarian Law / HR / Law of Armed Conflict

  • Advisors with military legal experience, ideally former Army Legal Service officers or equivalent, to provide subject matter expertise in IHL, HR frameworks, and LOAC.

Officer Training & Leadership Development

  • Instructors with experience delivering leadership and officer development training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS), the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom or its overseas equivalents. We are also interested in those who have served with a British Training and Advisory Team (BTAT) or similar tours, supporting the development of partner officer corps and military leadership institutions.

Defence Engagement

  • Former Defence Attachés, Assistant Defence Attachés, or members of Defence Sections with experience delivering Defence Engagement activities in the MENA region. Candidates should bring proven expertise in representing UK defence interests from an embassy platform, engaging host nation militaries, and building senior-level relationships. Relevant skills include cross-cultural negotiation, political–military analysis, and advisory experience with partner defence institutions. We are also interested in individuals with relevant MOD, PJHQ, Army HQ, 77X or 11X relevant experience.

For all roles, experience working in the Middle East and on NATO missions is highly valued. Candidates with Arabic language skills and those with a proven ability to operate effectively in cross-cultural environments are especially encouraged to apply.
