Estimator - Civil Engineering

A well-established civil engineering and remediation contractor is looking to strengthen its estimating team with a proven estimating professional. Whether you're stepping up into a senior role or already operating at that level, this is a chance to work on technically diverse projects. You'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of disciplines including bulk excavation, soil and groundwater treatment, waste management, ground stabilisation, civils, and general groundworks and small construction schemes. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure bids are commercially sound and operationally deliverable.

The Role

  • Produce detailed cost estimates based on site assessments, technical drawings, and project specifications
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and ensure quality standards
  • Attend site visits to identify risks and opportunities, feeding into bid strategy
  • Support bid submissions with clear, compliant documentation and pricing breakdowns
  • Review estimates and ensure accuracy prior to submission
  • Participate in handover meetings to ensure smooth transition from pre-construction to delivery
  • Maintain awareness of environmental regulations and ensure compliance across all estimates
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements

About You

  • Strong estimating experience within land remediation or environmental construction
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and build cost plans from first principles
  • Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts, plus experience using tendering portals
  • Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and equipment
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
