The Role

We are looking for an experienced CNC machinist looking to transition off the shop floor into a rewarding Estimator role. As an Estimator, you will leverage your hands‑on machining experience to accurately assess job requirements, provide costings, and support our sales and production teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical CNC knowledge who wants to move into a more strategic and commercially‑focused role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and requirements to prepare accurate job estimates.
  • Calculate material, tooling, and labour costs based on machining processes and production methods.
  • Liaise with the production team to assess feasibility and resource allocation.
  • Prepare formal quotations for customers, ensuring clarity and competitiveness.
  • Support sales and project teams with technical expertise and cost analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, revisions, and historical data for continuous improvement.
About You
  • Previous experience as a CNC machinist, ideally with exposure to milling, turning, or multi‑axis machining.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, materials, and production workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Numerically confident with strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to liaise with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple estimates concurrently.
