Estimator

Location: Derby

Salary: £50,000 plus car / car allowance, mileage, BUPA, mobile & laptop

Responsibilities:

  1. Receive and check enquiry documentation for completeness.
  2. Check specifications and contract conditions.
  3. Acknowledge receipt of tenders to clients.
  4. Prepare estimates and tender submissions in line with enquiry requirements and company procedures.
  5. Attend tender review meetings.
  6. Ensure construction methods in tenders comply with the latest health & safety policies, good practices, and legislation.
  7. Include sufficient financial allowances within tenders for safe construction execution.
  8. Visit sites to assess access, utilities, local conditions, and other factors influencing costs.
  9. Select suitable sub-contractors and obtain quotations.
  10. Agree on material prices and hired plant rates.
  11. Prepare documentation for handover meetings with the Contracts Department.
  12. Ensure tenders are compiled according to the company's Integrated Management System for estimating functions.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working for a civil engineering or construction business.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant post-degree experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills and business acumen.
