Responsibilities

• Tender for projects from tender packages to submitting full bills of quantities.
• Meet subcontractors, source labour, plant, and material prices.
• Produce logical pricing and detailed cost breakdowns.
• Attend site meetings and visits, primarily local to Sheffield.
• Work primarily from the office in a collaborative environment.
• Collaborate with project management, site teams, and procurement.
• Enhance estimating procedures, cost control, and overall profitability.

Job Description: Estimator

• Start date: ASAP
• Rates: £40-50K
• Qualifications: CSCS, full driving licence, 4-5 years relevant industry experience, experience working in NHS projects

Requirements

• A strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Experience reviewing tender documentation, including drawings, details, and specifications
• Background in refurbishment projects, new build commercial units, and Design & Build projects
• Knowledge of framework agreements (advantageous)
• A sound understanding of the construction process and onsite requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (experience with the Causeway software package is beneficial but not essential)
• Excellent numerical, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

What to Expect from the Role

• Tendering for projects of varying values, from receiving tender packages through to submitting full bills of quantities
• Meeting subcontractors on site, sourcing labour, plant, and material prices, and negotiating competitive quotations
• Producing logical, consistent pricing and detailed cost breakdowns
• Attending weekly site meetings and visits—most projects are local to Sheffield, with some in Rotherham, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Newark, and Nottingham
• Working primarily from the office while contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment
• Collaborating closely with project management, site teams, design staff, and procurement
• Contributing ideas to enhance estimating procedures, cost control, and overall profitability
