Responsibilities

The Estates Site Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the School's Estates team, including line managing a skilled team of maintenance assistants. The postholder will ensure the school's buildings and facilities are maintained to a high standard, supporting a safe and effective learning and working environment for students, staff, and visitors.

  • Supervision and Leadership: Lead, motivate, and supervise the Estates team, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. This includes delegating work, monitoring performance, and providing training and support in conjunction with the Estates & Facilities Manager.
  • Maintenance and Operations: Actively perform and supervise all planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, routine checks alongside the Estates Assistants and Apprentice. Utilising the School’s Compliance Pod (Estates’ helpdesk facility) software to ensure all jobs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential hazards in conjunction with the Estates & Facilities Manager. Supporting the delivery of DSE assessments for staff. Supporting the Estates & Facilities Manager with fire evacuation, lockdown practices etc as required.
  • Contractor Management: Coordinate with external contractors for specialised maintenance and repair work in conjunction with the Estates & Facilities Manager
  • Administrative Tasks: Support the Estates & Facilities manager in maintaining accurate records as well as managing and ordering supplies for the Estates team as required.
About you

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role, ideally within a facilities or estates management environment.
  • A strong, practical background in building maintenance, health and safety procedures, and manual handling regulations.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent attention for detail, proactive and flexible approach.
  • The ability to be proactive and take the initiative to manage situations.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required for school events and lettings.
