Qualifications

  • Must have or be willing to work towards BICS and NVQ 2.
  • Literacy and numeracy at grade C GCSE level required.
  • Pesticide certification required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake basic repairs and grounds maintenance.
  • Provide accurate updates and advice on progress.
  • Respond to complaints and escalations as necessary.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are well maintained.
  • Carry out all hazardous tasks safely.

Skills

British institute certificate in cleaning services (BICS)
Literacy and numeracy equivalent to grade C GCSE English and Maths
Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6
Experience in grounds maintenance
Practical experience in operating hand tools
Full valid UK driving licence

Sanctuary provides in-house repairs and maintenance services for an extensive portfolio of properties across Sanctuary organisations. £25,459 - £26,799 per year

40 hours per week

We have an opportunity for an Estate Technician to join our Estates Services division in Castleton Close, Leeds. This role mainly consists of lone working, however will occasionally be working in a team of two. Estate Technicians are responsible for clearing fly tipping, site cleaning, gutter clearing (using a sky vac) and other areas of Grounds Maintenance, to ensure all sites are kept clean and tidy and any works carried out are to a high standard and to site specification.

Role responsibilities
  • Undertaking basic repairs, grounds maintenance, caretaking and general cleaning
  • Providing accurate and timely information on progress and advice, ensuring accurate daily work records are completed
  • Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations and escalating complaints as appropriate
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks and ensuring stock levels are maintained
  • Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and carrying out all hazardous tasks, such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines and in a safe manner
Skills and experiences
  • British institute certificate in cleaning services (BICS), NVQ 2 in Horticulture or similar or willing to work towards
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to grade C GCSE English and Maths
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 or willing to work towards
  • Working knowledge and experience of undertaking grounds maintenance, caretaking, general cleaning and basic repairs duties
  • Some experience of working in a domestic/cleaning environment and some practical experience in operating hand tools and light machinery
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.
