Overview

Environmental Technician - Waste-to-Energy Sector

Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with a leading organisation in the waste-to-energy sector to appoint a skilled Environmental Technician. As an Environmental Technician you will ensure full compliance with environmental permits and regulations, maintaining robust environmental management systems, and supporting operational excellence within a modern energy-from-waste facility.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all site environmental compliance activities in line with permit and stakeholder requirements.
  • Maintain and operate the site's Environmental Management System (EMS), including key action plans and audits.
  • Coordinate sampling and reporting for various operational streams, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage weighbridge data and reporting to ensure compliance with Duty of Care and statutory requirements.
  • Stay up to date with relevant environmental legislation and contribute to site safety and sustainability initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience in managing Environmental Permit compliance, ideally within the waste management, energy, or environmental sectors.
  • Relevant qualification such as NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or equivalent (training considered for exceptional candidates).
  • Strong knowledge of environmental law, waste treatment processes, and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Proficient in interpreting and reporting environmental data, with excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office suite essential).
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
