A local government council in Wales is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join their Commercial Team. This role focuses on safeguarding public health through compliance with health regulations and active engagement with the community. The ideal candidate is an experienced Environmental Health Practitioner, capable of managing various cases and collaborating effectively within a team. Contract: Permanent
Salary: £41,418 to £43,421 per annum (25/26 pay award to be determined)
(Registered/Chartered EHOs without the required level of competency/experience are welcome to apply and start on a lower grade salary of £38,223 to £40,221, with the opportunity to progress to a higher pay grade).

We are seeking experienced, motivated and suitably qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Health – Commercial Team, to protect public health and make a positive impact on both Powys residents and visitors. Possessing an extensive knowledge of the relevant legislation, codes of practice and guidance, you will ensure that the council undertakes and meets all relevant and associated obligations within Food Safety, Health & Safety, Communicable Disease Control and Special Procedures.
The Powys Team has office bases throughout the County, including in the main towns of Welshpool, Machynlleth, Newtown, Llandrindod Wells and Brecon at your disposal with administrative support.
The lovely old market town of Brecon nestles in of the majestic Beacons and serves as a central hub for exploring the stunning Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, known for mountains, rivers, Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, and outdoor activities like walking, cycling, and watersports. Key features of Brecon include its Georgian architecture, the Norman-founded Brecon Cathedral, military history with the Royal Welsh Regiment, making it ideal for both relaxing and adventurous residents and visitors.

This is a flexible/on-the-go based worker position, which means that whilst the post holder has a specific base of work they will work across an area of the county for the majority of their time, with the opportunity to work in an agile way to include home working.
