Environmental Health Officer

Location: Scotland (Hybrid – 3 days on site) Contract: 4 months, potential extension Rate: £45-£50 per hour (Inside IR35) Hours: 28–35 per week Start: ASAP

A Scottish local authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join its team on a hybrid basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys varied casework, values flexibility, and wants to remain hands‑on across a diverse and scenic region.

The service is open to both generalist EHOs and specialists, so whether your strengths lie in food safety, environmental protection, or broader environmental health duties, your expertise will be welcomed.

Role Overview

You’ll play a key role in delivering statutory environmental health functions across the authority. The work spans public health, environmental protection, licensing and planning consultations, health and safety, and—where authorised—food safety inspections. Hybrid working is supported, with three days per week required on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport

  • Ability to attend on site three days per week

  • Experience working in rural or remote communities
