About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our client’s Highways and Designated Funds team, supporting key infrastructure projects in the South West. The role will involve guiding environmental compliance across multiple schemes, providing technical support, and ensuring delivery excellence in a hybrid working environment.

About the Client:

Our client is a leading consultancy delivering complex and high-impact infrastructure and transport solutions across the UK. They work closely with public sector partners, including National Highways, and are committed to sustainability, inclusion, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide environmental support on highways drainage and infrastructure schemes.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments, producing clear, accurate reports.
  • Advise on environmental impacts, permitting, scoping reports, and planning applications.
  • Prepare technical documentation and respond to statutory bodies (EA, Natural England, Local Authorities).
  • Liaise with internal teams and clients to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to technical development.
  • Support project delivery within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Assist with bid preparation and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing across projects.

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Previous experience in an environmental consultancy role, ideally within the highways sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation, planning, and permitting.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Experience supporting CEMP, CDM regulations, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Practitioner Membership of IEMA (PIEMA) or equivalent.
  • Commercial awareness and experience of software tools for environmental analysis.
