English Teacher – Trauma-Informed School
Start Date: 5th January 2026
Location: Northumberland
Contract: Full-time, term-time plus 3 days during holidays
Salary: £120,000 – £170,000 (depending on qualification and experience)
Requirements
- QTS or QTLS essential
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children with SEN or challenging behaviours
- Strong behaviour management skills and confidence applying trauma‑informed strategies
- Ability to deliver high‑quality English teaching up to GCSE level
- Experience teaching and leading Functional Skills English (Entry Level to Level 2)
- Understanding of the social and emotional barriers learners may face
Role Overview
- Deliver engaging, creative, and personalised English lessons that motivate learners and build confidence
- Teach Functional Skills English, ensuring all learners achieve meaningful progress and nationally recognised qualifications
- Work collaboratively to create bespoke learning pathways aligned with the curriculum
- Develop positive relationships with students based on the ethos of “connection before correction”
- Support students’ wider social, emotional and behavioural development
- Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Promote equality, diversity and safeguarding at all times

Working Pattern
- Monday – Friday, term‑time plus 3 days during school holidays
- 40 hours per week
