English Teacher – Trauma-Informed School

Start Date: 5th January 2026
Location: Northumberland
Contract: Full-time, term-time plus 3 days during holidays
Salary: £120,000 – £170,000 (depending on qualification and experience)

Requirements
  • QTS or QTLS essential
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children with SEN or challenging behaviours
  • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence applying trauma‑informed strategies
  • Ability to deliver high‑quality English teaching up to GCSE level
  • Experience teaching and leading Functional Skills English (Entry Level to Level 2)
  • Understanding of the social and emotional barriers learners may face
Role Overview
  • Deliver engaging, creative, and personalised English lessons that motivate learners and build confidence
  • Teach Functional Skills English, ensuring all learners achieve meaningful progress and nationally recognised qualifications
  • Work collaboratively to create bespoke learning pathways aligned with the curriculum
  • Develop positive relationships with students based on the ethos of “connection before correction”
  • Support students’ wider social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
  • Promote equality, diversity and safeguarding at all times
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Is adaptable, organised and flexible in teaching and pastoral duties
  • Can inspire a genuine enjoyment of English through innovative approaches
  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes to a supportive environment
  • Prioritises safeguarding and can respond confidently to incidents
