Job Title: English Teacher

Location: Alfreton

Start Date: November 2025

Salary: £168-£232 per day

TeacherActive is working with a well-known mainstream secondary school with a strong sense of community in the Alfreton area, Derbyshire. The school have high aspirations and offer fantastic support to all of its staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach English to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE preparation, with some Drama lessons.
• Contribute to achieving excellent results in English by following and implementing the schemes of learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support students and promote a rigorous reading strategy to build confidence and fluency.

Qualifications

• A graduate with qualified teacher status.
• An outstanding teacher in English, with a strong teaching record.
• Relevant qualifications (formal and/or through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment.
• Excellent in-depth knowledge of the English curriculum and its role in developing young people, including the importance of a rigorous reading strategy.
