Job description

m2r Education are proud to be working with this British Council accredited provider of residential junior summer courses for groups of students aged 10‑18.

They operate junior summer schools for international students aged 10‑18 years in nine locations across the UK: London, Hatfield, Bath, Edinburgh, Hull, Liverpool, Norwich, Colchester and Dorset. The schools are based on university or further education college campuses, all can offer residential accommodation and have teaching and leisure facilities on‑site. Summer courses offer a balanced mix between learning in the classroom and learning during activities and on excursions.

They need English Language Teachers to teach classes of international students from 28th June 2026 to 24th July 2026 (and beyond in smaller numbers). This can be on a full board residential or non‑residential basis.

You would be required to attend an on‑site induction day on Sunday 28th June.

Role

Teachers are responsible for teaching junior students on our short summer courses. Teachers usually work mornings and afternoons, Monday to Friday teaching 4 × 1.5‑hour lessons a day. The summer school in Colchester has a slightly different structure to the week, with teaching taking place on a Saturday but teachers have Wednesday off instead.

Timetables usually begin at 9 am and end about 5.30 pm with 30 contact hours per week.

All teachers receive an on‑site induction with the Director of Studies. The in‑house syllabus and a range of materials are available in each centre.

  • Write academic end‑of‑course reports and certificates/awards for all students
  • Ensure adequate preparation for all teaching and activity sessions
  • Keep all classrooms neat and tidy (rooms are sometimes used in the evenings for activities) and ensure all equipment and resources are returned to the teacher’s room
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Effectively follow the in‑house syllabus and teach a programme of lessons appropriate to a summer school environment
  • Deliver effective, communicative and student‑centred lessons
  • Deliver Enterprise English workshops if required
  • Maintain proper levels of student discipline, and report any unwanted behaviour immediately to the DOS
  • Ensure that students are studying at the correct level and report any class changes necessary to the DOS
  • Enthusiastically support the activities programme in and out of class
  • Be involved with activities and excursions as necessary
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the centre
Minimum Requirements

  • CELTA/Trinity TESOL (A PGCE with QTS in either MFL, or English or Primary QTS may also be considered)

  • Experience of teaching classes with 15 ‑ 18 students
  • Genuine interest in working with young people
  • Ability to cope with long working hours
