English Instructor – SEMH / Alternative Provision

Are you an experienced English Instructor with a strong understanding of SEMH needs, looking to inspire and motivate students who benefit from a more personalised approach to learning? An alternative provision in West Bromwich is seeking a confident, resilient and passionate English Instructor to join their team. This is a permanent opportunity for someone who is committed to helping students re‑engage with education and achieve meaningful progress.

You will be teaching small groups of Key Stage 3 and 4 students who may present behavioural, emotional, or social challenges. Your ability to remain calm, consistent and adaptable is essential. Strong subject knowledge, excellent behaviour management and a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning are key to success in this role.

Job Role
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to small groups of students with SEMH needs.
  • Use creative strategies to support students working below age‑related expectations.
  • Manage challenging behaviours in a calm, consistent and supportive manner.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience and improved engagement.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team and teaching assistants to ensure each student receives the right level of support.
  • Track progress and adjust lesson content to meet individual needs.
