Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Lancaster

Salary: £43,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

About the Role

As a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of production equipment across both the factory. This is a hands‑on, varied role where your skills will be fully utilised - reducing downtime, improving repair times, and enhancing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Key Responsibilities for the maintenance engineer
  • Carrying outplanned preventative maintenance (PPM)and improvement activities.
  • Supporting and commissioning new equipment and projects.
  • Using CMMS systems to plan, record, and manage maintenance tasks.
  • Accurately reporting and documenting all maintenance activities.
  • Conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing long‑term corrective actions.
  • Supporting operator cross‑skilling (e.g., lubrication, inspections, changeovers, minor repairs).
  • Managing spare parts, conducting criticality and obsolescence reviews, and streamlining stock control.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement (CI) initiatives using tools such as 5S, TPM, Asset Management, and Kaizen.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly performance reports.
About the maintenance engineer
  • A qualifiedMultiskilled Engineer, ideally with anelectrical bias
  • Competent with fault finding, repair, and maintenance on electrical systems and controls.
  • Comfortable with basic mechanical tasks, including changing belts, bearings, and using hand tools.
  • Experienced in manufacturing or process environments, with a focus on reliability and safety.
  • Analytical, proactive, and motivated to drive continuous improvement.
