Job Description
Assystem is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for the power grid, including substations, transmission lines and distribution networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for the power grid, including substations, transmission lines and distribution networks.
- Analyze and model power systems.
- Lead and deliver grid connection studies, ensuring compliance with relevant grid codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., civil protection engineers) to integrate solutions for major infrastructure projects.
- Manage projects from start to finish, including safety assessments, risk management and contractor oversight.
- Use analytical and problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot electrical issues and maintain existing plant and equipment.
- Liaise with external stakeholders (network operators, regulators) to ensure projects meet all technical and compliance standards.
- Deliver all engineering deliverables on plan through collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Ensure delivery to plan of the Technical Acceptance and associated surveillance.
- Manage design interfaces and supplier feedback efficiently.
- Support the Quality Management Lead by driving the technical resolution of manufacturing NCRs.
- Follow‑up equipment qualification programmes to expedite related engineering issues (queries, deviations, changes, etc.).
- Involvement in major UK and international nuclear projects.

Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering technical leadership in complex safety‑critical environments, ideally in the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated field.
- Strong understanding of integrated management systems, including policies, procedures and standards.
- Experience in power systems engineering and / or grid connections.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and issue resolution.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability.
- Understanding of PWR design (advantageous).
- Familiarity with EU directives, British Standards and company procedures.
- Degree and Chartered Engineer status (CEng) in engineering construction or a related field.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
Additional Information
BPSS required. Ability to travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within the UK. Applicants must meet UK residency and security clearance (minimum SC level) requirements.
