What will you do?

We’re looking for a dynamic Engineering Manager to guide a talented new backend team of five engineers dedicated to our Core product. Your leadership will be critical in shaping the team’s success and driving innovation as we continue to grow. We thrive on a flat management structure, empowering teams to make decisions that directly influence their work. This approach fosters autonomy, collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership. In this role, you’ll take accountability for technical and delivery outcomes, nurture top‑tier engineering talent, and cultivate an inclusive, high‑performing culture. You’ll structure, support, and challenge your team to deliver outstanding results while ensuring they have the tools and environment to thrive.

Technical:

While experience managing people is a bonus, we’re particularly excited about candidates with strong technical expertise, a delivery‑focused background, and a passion for developing others. Although this role does not require hands‑on coding, we are looking for someone who has previously worked as a software engineer and brings a deep technical understanding to guide and support the team effectively. Is this role right for you? We’ll need you to;

• Bring hands‑on coding experience in a dynamic or strongly typed language (Python preferred) and use that knowledge to guide and support your team.
• Collaborate with Product and Technical Leads to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard, from design to maintenance.
• Manage, mentor and oversee a team of 5 engineers, helping them grow through regular feedback and coaching.
• Champion high standards in engineering practices, holding your team accountable for technical and operational excellence.
• Build strong relationships across the team, foster focus and productivity, and partner with senior/lead engineers to implement impactful technical initiatives.
• Shape and contribute to best practices across the wider engineering team, driving continuous improvement.
