A manufacturing company based near Gloucester is seeking an experienced Technical Manager/Lead Project Engineer to lead the engineering function. You will oversee the full product lifecycle of complex industrial machinery, ensuring technical excellence while managing a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate should possess over 7 years of experience in machine environments, a degree in engineering, and be proficient in SolidWorks. This is a senior position requiring strong leadership and innovation skills.

Qualifications

• Typically 7+ years' experience in industrial, special-purpose, or capital equipment machinery environments.
• Strong understanding of automated machinery, including servo motion control systems.
• Familiarity with PLC and servo systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement of machinery.
• Act as the technical bridge between design and production.
• Ensure all equipment meets CE marking and relevant standards.
• Own technical project schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
• Manage suppliers for key components and implement validation processes.

Skills

Technical Background

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
