A well‑established engineering manufacturer in Leamington Spa is looking for an Engineering Buyer to join their procurement team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with design, production and suppliers on technically interesting components. This isn't a corporate role — you'll be part of a tight‑knit, long‑standing team where decisions happen quickly, people stay for years, and you can genuinely influence how parts are sourced and developed.

About the Role

As an Engineering Buyer, you'll take ownership of a wide range of engineered components, including machined parts, fabricated assemblies, hydraulic items and metalwork used across the company's product range. You'll work closely with engineers, review drawings, challenge cost drivers, and ensure suppliers have the capability to deliver quality parts on time.

Responsibilities
  • Sourcing, negotiating and managing suppliers for machined, fabricated and assembled components
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications with engineering
  • Supporting prototype builds and engineering changes
  • Identifying cost savings through design, material or process improvements
  • Assessing supplier capability, capacity and quality performance
  • Working with production to resolve supply issues and maintain continuity
  • Managing RFQs, quotations, lead times, tooling, and commercial agreements
  • Building long‑term relationships with a stable UK supplier base
What You'll Need to Be Considered
  • Previous experience as an Engineering Buyer, Technical Buyer, Manufacturing Buyer or similar
  • Strong understanding of machined parts, fabrication, metal components or hydraulic assemblies
  • Confidence reading engineering drawings (or the ability to learn quickly)
  • Experience working closely with design and production teams
  • A proactive approach to supplier development and cost reduction
  • Strong negotiation, communication and problem‑solving skills
  • A practical, down‑to‑earth attitude suited to an engineering environment
  • A formal engineering qualification is a bonus but not essential if you've gained technical knowledge through hands‑on experience
Why Join?
  • Highly respected engineering employer with extremely low turnover
  • Long‑standing team with strong product knowledge
  • Modern, clean manufacturing environment
  • Early Friday finish every week
  • Genuine long‑term progression and stability
  • Excellent benefits including bonus, PMI and enhanced holidays
