Engineering Lecturer - Machine Shop Specialist (FE)

Are you a skilled engineer with a background in machining, CNC operations, or manual turning and milling? Are you ready to inspire and educate the next generation of engineers? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a progressive Further Education college in Northampton, seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Lecturer with machine shop expertise to join their team on a temporary basis, with strong potential for extension or a permanent role.

About the Role:
In this hands-on teaching position, you will deliver practical and theoretical engineering content to students aged 16+. You will focus on machine shop practices including CNC programming, manual lathe and milling operations, health and safety, and precision measurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and assess engineering units, with a focus on machining

  • Teach in a fully equipped workshop environment

  • Mentor learners and track their progress

  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety

Requirements:

  • Industry experience in mechanical engineering and machining

  • Familiarity with CNC and manual machine tools

  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Previous FE teaching or training experience (preferred but not essential)

  • Passion for engineering education
