About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Engine Builder to join our high‑performance engineering and motorsport business. This role requires deep technical excellence, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to deliver engines that meet world‑class standards of performance, reliability, and quality.

As a senior member of the workshop team, you’ll play a critical role in building, inspecting, maintaining, and developing engines across premium automotive and motorsport applications.

Key Responsibilities

As a highly experienced Engine Builder you will apply your technical mastery and precision craftsmanship across every stage of engine build and inspection. Your expertise will ensure each engine delivers exceptional performance and reliability.

Engine Build & Disassembly
  • Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild high‑performance and competition engines to demanding tolerances.
  • Work independently or in collaboration with engineers and technicians on full engine build projects and major overhauls.
  • Conduct detailed strip‑down inspections and prepare components for machining, cleaning, or replacement.
  • Prepare engines for dyno operation, ensuring all systems and ancillaries are correctly configured.
Precision Measurement, Tooling & Assembly
  • Use specialist tooling and precision measurement techniques for accurate component inspection, balancing, alignment, and assembly.
  • Ensure all components meet specified clearances and tolerances.
  • Apply best‑practice assembly techniques to deliver flawless, reliable engine builds.
Testing, Diagnostics & Technical Support
  • Assist with dyno testing, post‑run inspections, and fault diagnosis as required.
  • Support root‑cause investigations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to identify opportunities for performance gains or improved build processes.
Documentation, Quality & Workshop Excellence
  • Prepare comprehensive build documentation, test logs, strip‑down reports, and torque/clearance records.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workshop environment, ensuring tools, equipment, and workstations are properly managed and maintained.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced technicians, setting high standards of workmanship & professionalism.
  • Uphold strict quality standards and follow internal procedures to ensure accuracy, traceability, and consistency.
  • Assist on other Venture sub‑assembly programs, where required.
Qualifications, Skills & Personal Attributes
Essential
  • Extensive experience building engines in a high‑performance or competition environment.
  • Sound understanding of engine fundamentals, clearances, and tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, build specifications, and tolerancing documents.
  • Competence in precision measurement tools (micrometers, dial gauges, bore gauges, torque tools, etc.).
  • Familiarity with dyno processes and data interpretation beneficial.
  • Familiarity with cam timing, compression ratio, and ignition setup preferred.
  • Competent in build documentation and reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
Desirable
  • Qualification in mechanical engineering or motorsport engineering.
  • Experience with machining (honing, balancing, skimming) or non‑destructive testing.
  • Motorsport experience.
Personal Attributes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and methodical, disciplined working style.
  • Self‑motivated & takes pride in craftsmanship and delivering flawless, reliable builds.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Capable of managing own workload and meeting deadlines, with minimal supervision.
