This is a cross site post between the North Tees and the Hartlepool sites.

The post requires the post holder to have knowledge and understanding of Endoscopy patient pathways in order toappropriately book a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures following the endoscopy training.

Ability to be deliver all reception duties is also a requirement of the role, again following the appropriate training.

Main duties of the job

Book endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Communication with multi-disciplined medical and surgical teams.

Adhere to all Trust and Endoscopy specific policies, procedures and guidelines. Ensure that all work outputs are completed to a high standard of quality as required and that all patient waiting times and pathway targets and timescales are met.

Identify when additional capacity is required to meet waiting list targets and liaise with the Endoscopy Coordinators and Endoscopy Admin Lead to ensure additional capacity is organised effectively and in a timely manner with best use of resources.

Reception duties that include arriving and discharging patients onto the Endoscopy Unit via the Trusts electronic patient record, TrakCare.

Ensure all appropriate technologies and equipment are utilised to optimum functionality.

Consistently demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Effectively liaise with staff from other services as well as external service users including GP's, patients and their representatives in a professional and courteous manner.

Support the updating and maintaining of standard operating procedures.

Organise interpreters following appropriate trust policies, systems and processes.

General office duties including opening and distributing post, housekeeping, filing, photocopying and maintaining stock of routine supplies.

Person Specification
  • GCSE at grade C or above in Mathematics Key Skills at level 2 in Numeracy (or equivalent) GCSE at grade C or above in English Language, or Key Skills at level 2 in Literacy (or equivalent)
  • Experience of clerical work involving computerised systems Demonstrable experience of working in a customer focused environment Ability to manage own workload. Ability to plan and organise admin tasks.
  • Demonstrate ability to pay good attention to detail, reliably check and record data and identify anomalies and be able to self-check completed work.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of windows based computer systems and be capable of using most Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure/meet tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality work
  • Flexibility - able to cope with different work environments
  • IT qualification (ITQ at level 2 or equivalent) NVQ at level 2 in Business Administration or Customer Care (or equivalent)
  • Experience of working within a healthcare environment
