Job Description:

Position: Electronics/Senior Electronics Engineer

Location: Melksham, United Kingdom

Business Unit: Avon Protection

Purpose of Position: This role provides electronic engineering support to the Underwater Systems engineering team, focusing on maintenance and development of diving and life support systems. Responsibilities include detailed design, testing, schematic entry, PCB design, documentation, and working with multidisciplinary teams for system requirements, physical constraints, production support, fault finding, and sourcing electronic components.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Design and deliver new products on-time, to cost and to specification.
  2. Generate innovative design concepts for review and evaluation.
  3. Produce PCB designs, layouts, drawings, and documentation.
  4. Lead development from prototype to final production.
  5. Work according to Avon design procedures.
  6. Manage electronic component supply, sourcing alternatives for obsolete parts.
  7. Test components and produce reports.
  8. Assist with project plans and costings.
  9. Contribute to risk analysis and configuration control.
  10. Support development of new business opportunities.
  11. Represent the company professionally internally and externally.
  12. Research and develop new products and techniques.
  13. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and customers to define specifications.
  14. Maintain knowledge of latest electronic engineering processes.

Education/Experience/Skills:

Essential:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or relevant field.
  • Proven ability to deliver innovative product designs on schedule.
  • Experience with NPI and DFM.
  • PCB design and layout experience.
  • Component sourcing and procurement.
  • Knowledge of PCB validation, verification, and configuration control.
  • Ability to travel within the UK.
  • Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Eligible for Security Check (SC).

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of respiratory or underwater systems.
  • Experience with microcontroller design, EMC, military standards, and product lifecycle management.
