Qualifications

  • Degree/HND/HNC in a relevant discipline or ONC/OND with significant experience.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).
  • Practical skills in soldering, crimping, and electromechanical assembly.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join as an Electrical/Electronic Test Technician/Engineer working onsite in Barnstaple on marine electronics. The role has arisen due to project expansion and the need for skilled engineers to support testing and development of products designed for challenging marine environments. You’ll be part of a multi discipline team contributing to the security of the UK and its allies, with exposure to cutting edge technology and complex engineering problems. Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Carry out hands on electrical/electronic manufacture and testing
  • Use tools to interpret schematics and PCB layouts
  • Perform surveys on items returned from service and report findings
  • Conduct testing in line with documentation and specifications
  • Develop and interpret test specifications
  • Undertake self directed investigative testing work
  • Adhere to control processes to achieve conforming products
  • Complete documentation in line with quality and contractual requirements, ensuring traceability
  • Report non conformance using MRP systems
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in work areas
  • Ensure working areas are clean, tidy, and free of FOD at all times
  • Follow health and safety frameworks and procedures
You will have the following qualifications & experience
  • Degree/HND/HNC in a relevant discipline (ONC/OND acceptable with significant demonstrable experience)
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
  • Working knowledge of hand tools for mechanical and electrical operations
  • Practical skills in soldering, crimping, looming, and electromechanical assembly
  • Understanding of production control documentation and traceability requirements
  • Drive for continuous improvement through process development
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • Creative problem solving skills with adaptability to different challenges
  • Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Team player with proactive problem solving skills and ability to liaise with other engineering functions
It’s great if you also have the following
  • Familiarity with Family Tree/Bill of Materials (BoM) and assembly drawings
  • Experience working in a multi discipline design/manufacturing environment
  • Awareness and compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements
  • Background in military, aerospace, or marine electronics environments
The setting for the role

This is an onsite role based in Barnstaple, with a minimum of four days per week required onsite. You’ll be working closely with a multi discipline engineering team, contributing to marine electronics projects in a collaborative environment.
