Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Telford, Shropshire

Salary: Competitive (DOE)

Job Type: Permanent

Working Hours
  • Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
  • Friday: 08:00 - 14:00

37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

Regional Recruitment Services are recruiting on behalf of an industry-leading manufacturer for an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join their R&D Development Team based in Telford.

This role supports the design and development of innovative electrical installation systems and offers the opportunity to work within a global R&D organisation, contributing to future-focused product and system designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electro-mechanical systems and components from concept to production
  • Produce 3D CAD models, drawings and assemblies (Creo 7.0 or later preferred)
  • Apply Design for Excellence (DfX) principles
  • Support device and system integration
  • Design sheet metal and plastic parts for enclosures and electrical systems
  • Carry out calculations for current carrying capacity, thermal dissipation and short-circuit performance
  • Ensure compliance with IEC and British Standards (IEC 61439, IEC 62208)
  • Collaborate with global R&D, manufacturing and project teams
  • Manage multiple design projects while meeting quality and delivery targets
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience in electro-mechanical or electrical design engineering
  • Strong understanding of DfX methodologies
  • Experience with system integration and device design
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and plastic design
  • Experience with enclosed electrical busbar systems
  • Understanding of thermal dissipation and short-circuit ratings
  • Knowledge of IEC and British Standards
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and project management
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred)
