We are looking for 2 Electromechanical Design Engineers to join the team in Crewe to design and produce high quality control and power distribution cabinets from concept through to final delivery ensuring compliance with customer specification, engineering standards and national safety regulations.

The role combines electrical and mechanical design disciplines to deliver complete engineered solutions, including cabinet layouts, electrical schematics, component selection and integration of control hardware. The Electromechanical Design Engineer will provide technical support to the production team, assist in testing and commissioning activities, and contribute to continuous improvements initiatives within the Power Products team.

This role does not have any managerial responsibilities; however you may be expected to provide guidance to Graduate Engineers and Design Engineers where appropriate. You will be located near the Crewe office (your home office location) but will need flexibility to travel to Coventry to support other team members and to customer sites for surveys, testing and/or commissioning. You will work proactively under the general direction of the Design Engineering Manager within company policies, procedures and delegated authority, manage workload effectively, challenge existing practices constructively, and identify opportunities for design improvement or cost reduction.

Spread of Skills and Analysis Required
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability across both electrical and mechanical disciplines
  • Proficient in CAD software for electrical schematics and 3D cabinet design (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
  • Capable of interpreting and applying electrical standards (e.g. BS EN 61439, BS 7671) and mechanical design requirements
  • Required to investigate design non‑conformities, propose corrective actions, and produce technical documentation such as drawings, wiring schedules, and operation manuals
  • Participate in factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) and provide hands‑on technical support where needed
  • Experience in the design of electrical control and power distribution panels or similar electromechanical systems
  • Skilled in producing electrical schematics, GA layouts, cable schedules and bills of materials
Essential Criteria
  • Experience in the design of electrical control and power distribution panels or similar electromechanical systems
  • Skilled in producing electrical schematics, GA layouts, cable schedules and bills of materials
  • Experience in both electrical and mechanical design processes, including enclosure layout and thermal management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other teams
  • IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CAD tools
  • Educated to HND or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in Rail, energy or other safety‑critical sectors
  • Understanding of PLC or automation integration
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN or similar design platforms
  • Project Co‑ordination
