Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Skelmersdale. The role requires experienced electrical technicians who are familiar with PLCs and complex electrical systems. Responsibilities include both planned and reactive maintenance, as well as participation in improvement projects. Candidates should have relevant vocational qualifications and experience in the manufacturing industry. Pay rates range from £25 to £30 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Experienced electrical technician with 18th edition qualifications.
  • Ability to work with PLCs and relevant machinery.
  • Time served in electrical engineering with adequate vocational qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on complex electrical systems.
  • Implement improvements to PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Provide technical advice for equipment issues.
  • Participate in improvement teams for operational efficiency.
  • Communicate results through reporting during shift handovers.
  • Maintain safety awareness following risk assessments and control measures.

Skills

BTEC, ONC or C&G Technician or equivalent
Time served and experienced in Electrical Engineering
Relevant experience in manufacturing industry
Knowledge of PLC process control
Knowledge of SCADA
Knowledge of AC and DC drive systems

Education

HNC/ NVQ level 3 or equivalent

SAP (CMMS)
