Overview

Electrical Site Manager - Data Centre Expansion
Gloucester | £300/day CIS | Freelance | Project Completion: Christmas 2025

A freelance opportunity is available for an experienced Electrical Site Manager to join the on-site delivery team for a high-value data centre expansion in Gloucester. The project is midway through a complex upgrade programme and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. With a total project value exceeding £12 million, this live environment development includes the creation of new white space, installation of new HV transformers, LV switchboards, electrical distribution, standby generators, containment, cabling, PDUs, BMS, fire alarm systems, and all associated power infrastructure for a fully operational data hall.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day on-site electrical works and trades coordination.

• Track programme progress and ensure safety compliance on a live site.
• Provide technical support through to commissioning.
• Liaise with client-side representatives, resolve on-site queries, and contribute to regular progress and commercial reporting.

Role Details

This is a full-time, site-based freelance role paid at £300/day CIS through to project completion. The project team includes project managers, mechanical and electrical site managers, and a dedicated QS. Direct data centre experience is not required, as specialist technical support is embedded in the project team; what is essential is the ability to manage subcontractors, enforce high safety standards, and maintain programme progress on a busy, live site.
