  • Diagnose and repair faults on PLC-controlled systems, motors, sensors, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve line efficiency.

Overview

Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer — Location: Cambridge — Annual Salary: £50,000 — Job Type: Permanent, Full-time, Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00, flexible).

We are a pioneering Cambridge-based agri-tech company dedicated to fixing the broken food chain through innovative solutions. We are seeking a skilled Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of electrical and mechanical systems and contribute to sustainability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on PLC-controlled systems, motors, sensors, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with health & safety and food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve line efficiency.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills with a good understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Experience in a food, FMCG, or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and automated systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards is desirable.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
