Job description

We are currently delivering a commercial office fit‑out project and are seeking an experienced Electrical Authorised Person (AP) to join the project team on a freelance basis. The role will involve taking responsibility for the safe control, management, and supervision of electrical systems on site, ensuring all works are carried out in line with legislation, safety rules, programme, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Electrical Authorised Person, responsible for the safe operation and control of electrical systems on site
  • Implement and manage electrical safety rules, permits to work, isolations, and lock‑off procedures
  • Supervise and coordinate electrical supervisors, electricians, and specialist subcontractors, carry out regular inspections and audits of electrical installations and temporary supplies
  • Oversee testing, inspection, commissioning, and certification processes
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Manager, and other trade leads
  • Monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and escalated issues where necessary
Qualifications
  • Proven experience working as an Electrical Authorised Person / AP Manager
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory or authorised role on commercial projects
  • Strong background in commercial office fit‑out or similar environments
  • Valid ECS Gold Card
  • SSSTS (SMSTS advantageous)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of electrical safety rules, isolations, and permit systems
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
