Battle Abbey offers a unique opportunity to stand at the centre of the landscape where England’s future was decided, walking in the footsteps of William the Conqueror and King Harold as their armies clashed in 1066.
The education volunteer role at Battle Abbey is ideal for enthusiastic individuals who want to help us inspire future generations and to deliver our Sandford Award-winning Discovery Visits to school children. You can read more about our school visits and their content on our website.
Developed in collaboration with teachers and our Learning Team, the Discovery Visits give learners the chance to explore the Battle of Hastings at the very site where it happened.
As a volunteer with English Heritage, you will be invited to an induction session to learn more about volunteering at English Heritage, the history of Battle Abbey, and how to carry out your role. You can be buddied up with experienced volunteers to help you become confident in your role.
This role requires a DBS check, which we will arrange when you start.
