Salary: £505 Per Day • Hours: Full-Time 37 Hours • Working Schedule: Monday to Friday • Contract Length: 6 Month • Location: One Angel Square, NN1 1ED
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and direct staff who have case work responsibilities within the service to improve the educational attainment and achievement of vulnerable learners.
- Supervise, performance manage and appraise staff to deliver the corporate priority to improve the attainment and achievement of vulnerable groups.
- Act as the lead officer with responsibility for CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) and Trafficked Children & Young People, those at risk of radicalisation and those identified as vulnerable to FGM (Female Genital Mutilation).
- Lead on the development of policy and strategy to improve educational attainment and achievement of vulnerable learners.
- Attend and lead strategic partnership groups (e.g. NSCB sub-groups) to ensure educational outcomes for vulnerable children improve.
- Ensure rigorous tracking, monitoring and evaluation of progress of all vulnerable learners; analyse performance data and produce management reports for a range of audiences.
- Interpret and prepare briefing notes on new, current or proposed legislation; respond to information requests from Members, Officers, other organisations and the public; prepare input to Government and other bodies\' statistical information requirements.
- Data analysis as requested indicating trends for development of county/service strategy.
- Develop and deliver training to all levels of staff, as required.
- Work with relevant professionals to ensure vulnerable learners receive a high quality education with rigorous monitoring and evaluation, supported appropriately within education establishments with access to appropriate support from the service.
- Contribute to strategic developments to reduce exclusions (fixed term and permanent): ensure LA representation at schools\' governors\' disciplinary committees and independent appeals; work with alternative providers and commissioners to ensure access to education for excluded young people; manage 6th day education provision in cases of permanent exclusion; provide advice and guidance to schools, parents and young people in cases of exclusions; maintain a county-wide overview of pupils at risk of exclusion and those permanently excluded; highlight and share good practice in prevention and response to exclusions; ensure robust reintegration into school when appropriate.
- Fully contribute to strategic developments in relation to the SEN Code of Practice and services for disabled children.
- Manage the budget to deliver agreed priorities in accordance with corporate financial protocols, promoting financial stewardship and ensuring staff are aware of the financial impact of decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in educational inclusion, policy development and strategic leadership within a local authority or equivalent context.
- Experience of data analysis, performance reporting and use of data to inform strategy and practice.
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and working with partner agencies to improve outcomes for vulnerable learners.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding considerations related to CSE, trafficking, radicalisation risks and FGM.
