Overview

Residential Building Surveyor – AssocRICS / MRICS / FRICS – Remote working – Hiring in North / East London / surrounding areas

All areas considered, NE London of high interest in particular but please still apply regardless if Located in London / surrounding areas.

Established in 2015, my client are a well-respected, friendly team of 20 property professionals, who are committed to delivering a quality service to their customers.

They have a genuine focus on quality over quantity, carrying out four to five L3 Surveys per week with one day per week in office or at home reserved for report writing.

Responsibilities
  • Perform residential building surveys at L2 and L3 levels as appropriate to qualifications (AssocRICS / MRICS / FRICS).
  • Prepare detailed surveys and reports using Go Report; support site visits with drones when required.
  • Manage diary and fieldwork scheduling, ensuring timely bookings and client communications.
  • Contribute to department development, including referral work and potential involvement in valuation, party wall, or related services as opportunities arise.
  • Collaborate with in-house administrative team for bookings, file setup, terms and conditions, final report delivery, follow-up calls/meetings, and client reviews.
  • Work remotely with office attendance as agreed (weekly or biweekly).
Offer and benefits
  • Basic salary: £60,000–£85,000 per annum (agency approx.).
  • Pension contributions (government standard).
  • 27 or 28 days holiday? 23 days holiday, plus bank holidays, rises after 5 and 7 years to 25 then 26 days.
  • Workplace pension (standard).
  • RICS memberships paid.
  • 45p per mile, mileage allowance.
  • Lucrative bonus scheme, calculated as 20% of income above threshold per quarter (threshold varies between £20,000 and £30,000). Example: Threshold £25,000, quarterly income £50,000 results in £5,000 bonus; plus up to £20,000 total commission per year, on top of basic salary (paid quarterly).
Additional information
  • Average expectation is five surveys per week, equating to more than £200,000 per annum approx. in net fees.
  • Average turnaround time is 2–3 days for L2, 4–5 days for L3.
  • Technology used includes Go Report for reporting and drones to assist on site when required.
  • Career development opportunity to diversify into valuation and party wall work; training and support offered.
  • Progression to assisting department Director, bringing in referral work with accompanying bonus scheme.
  • Their average fee is L2: £750 (no Valuation), £980 (with Valuation); L3: £1,425.
  • In-house administration handles bookings, file setup, T&Cs, final report delivery, and client follow-up; reviews assistance from the admin team.
  • Many surveyors have been with the company for between 5 and 15 years.
  • The position is home-based with office attendance expected weekly or biweekly, with flexible working around family commitments subject to agreement with the line manager and ability to make up time.
