Earthworks Technician

As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a committed Earthworks Technician to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are looking for a dependable, dedicated and flexible Earthworks Technician to join our UKAS accredited Materials team. As a member of Materials, it is key that you are able to thrive in a team environment, as well as independently. The fundamental part of the role it to determine the physical properties of a wide range of materials including concrete, earthworks, aggregates and bituminous mixtures to ensure compliance with specifications. All testing will be undertaken in line with a range of British, European and American standards so a good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures is required.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
  • Working on busy earthworks projects performing in-situ testing, as well as carrying out testing in the laboratory when not on site
  • Sampling and scheduling of materials for submission to the laboratory
  • Train colleagues to better their knowledge and further enhance the capabilities of the team
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
  • Good organisation skills, making sure that all testing is completed and all worksheets are filled in fully
  • That you can read and understand an earthworks specification
  • Great communication with managers and clients
  • Excellent time management, ensuring you are on site when you need to be
  • You can work to the relevant standards for the tests you are performing

Our Materials Testing team perform an extensive range of testing and compliance services across a wide range of construction projects including highways, rail, airfields, ports and harbours, power stations, sports stadia in addition to new build projects across Industrial, commercial and residential properties.
