Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: USPCAThis role provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in online retail and digital sales within the charity sector. The successful candidate will learn how to prepare, photograph, list, and manage items for sale across the USPCA’s online platforms, as well as support marketing and customer engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with online retail platforms such as Vinted and eBay. Identify and select donated items for online sale, preparing products to a high standard through cleaning, steaming, and photographing, and create appealing listings.
  • Package sold items securely, dispatch them efficiently, and maintain an organised stock area for listed and unlisted items.
  • Respond to customer enquiries, and help to ensure a positive online shopping experience.
  • Monitor sales performance and assist in identifying trends in popular products.
  • Support marketing and promotional activities by providing product photos or stories for social media content, learning how to showcase key items or collections to increase interest and engagement.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, training, and events to support the charity’s work.
  • All responsibilities are carried out in line with GDPR and confidentiality requirements, while representing the USPCA positively at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
  • The ability particularly when preparing items for sale, creating accurate online listings, and ensuring products are presented to a high standard.
  • Good written communication skills are important for producing clear, engaging product descriptions and responding professionally to customer enquiries.
  • Basic digital and IT skills are required, including confidence using online platforms, uploading content, and handling simple data entry tasks.
  • Previous experience with e-commerce platforms such as eBay, Vinted, Depop, or similar online marketplaces is desirable, particularly if it includes creating listings, pricing items, or managing online sales.
  • Experience in photography or basic photo editing is also an advantage, as it supports high-quality product presentation.
  • A good understanding of fashion, collectibles, or second-hand retail trends is beneficial when identifying items with strong resale potential and recognising popular or high-value products.
  • Experience with stock control, order fulfilment, or packaging and dispatch processes would be useful.
  • Confidence using social media platforms for marketing or promotion is desirable, especially if you have experience creating engaging posts or supporting online campaigns.
  • Basic analytical skills, such as reviewing sales performance or spotting trends, are also advantageous.
  • An interest in animal welfare or prior experience working with charities or non-profit organisations is desirable, along with initiative, creativity, and the ability to work independently while remaining a supportive team member.
