There is an exciting opportunity for a placement student to join the Dyson Farming Research Team. The successful candidate should be dynamic, enthusiastic, and hands-on. This experience will allow you to acquire knowledge and skills that will support your academic studies and help you develop the practical, interpersonal, and business competencies needed in the workplace. Working alongside our experienced Research Team, you will gain insight into our unique business and build a foundation for future career plans. The role will require effective collaboration with the team to ensure the efficient running of Dyson Farming's research trials.

This will be a 3 month fixed-term contract.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting primary data collection across a variety of crops, including strawberries, potatoes, combinables and environmental monitoring
  • Assisting with crop husbandry tasks
  • Working across our Nocton Farm and Carrington Glasshouse sites, with potential travel to our Oxfordshire Farm
Personal Specification
  • Studying towards an undergraduate qualification in Biology, Geography, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences or similar
  • Awareness of research methods and research integrity
  • Proactive attitude and commitment to health and safety
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to take the initiative
  • Computer literate including MS Office
  • Professional manner and confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Willing to take responsibility and ownership for tasks
  • Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working
  • Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong team work skills
  • Full driving licence
