Job summary

A reputable construction company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Truck Driver with responsibilities including vehicle inspections, route planning, and cargo safety. Applicants should possess a secondary school graduation certificate and demonstrate personal suitability traits such as flexibility and reliability. Experience in trucking is preferred. This is a permanent full-time role with a contracted routine of 40 hours per week. The salary is $25.00 per hour. The position does not allow for remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts as needed.
  • Plan or adjust routes using navigation devices.
  • Load and unload goods.
  • Oversee vehicle condition and complete inspections.
  • Manage payments for goods.
  • Perform brake adjustments and other maintenance tasks.
  • Record cargo information and fuel consumption.
  • Ensure safety and security of cargo.

Responsibilities / Tasks
  • Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • Load and unload goods
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Pay and receive payments for goods
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
