DT Technician – Food Technology & Textiles

Location: Newham, East London

Start: January 2026

Contract: Full-time, Long-term (January–July 2026)

Pay: Paid weekly through PAYE

We are working with a well‑organised secondary school in Newham seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to support both staff and students across practical subjects. You’ll play a key role in ensuring lessons run safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

What you’ll be doing:
Food Technology Support
  • Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations
  • Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene across kitchens and equipment
  • Supporting food safety practices in line with regulations
Textiles Support
  • Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment
  • Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons
  • Assisting with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing
  • Organising and maintaining textile resources
General Responsibilities
  • Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH
  • Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas
  • Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day‑to‑day department needs
  • Creating a safe, positive, and well‑organised learning environment
