DT Technician

Location: Secondary School, Tower Hamlets

Contract: Full-time, term-time only

Start Date: As soon as possible

Are you a practical, organised, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting creativity and innovation? Our vibrant secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated Design & Technology Technician to join our DT department.

About the Role:

As our DT Technician, you will play a key role in helping the department deliver engaging, hands‑on learning experiences. You will support teachers and students across a range of DT specialisms, ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing, maintaining, and organising materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons
  • Providing technical support during lessons, including assisting students with machinery and practical tasks
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring all equipment complies with health and safety regulations
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs on tools and machinery
  • Helping to manage stock levels, ordering supplies when needed
  • Supporting departmental displays, projects, and extracurricular activities
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working in a school DT department or workshop environment (preferred)
  • Practical skills across areas such as woodworking, metalwork, electronics, or CAD/CAM
  • Good understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach and a willingness to learn
