Job summary

Overview

EPM Solutions are seeking a highly motivated individual to complement our existing team based at our offices in Paisley. Initially reporting to (and working alongside) the Technical Manager for allocation of work and to predominantly assist with Hazardous Area Classification/DSEAR project delivery as required, the longer-term expectation is for you to develop into becoming our Lead Person in terms of projects of this nature. This position requires focus, attention to detail and a genuine recognition of responsibility in terms of providing a technically competent and first-class level of service to our extensive and varied client base. Although office based, the role will require occasional travel to customer sites (including overnights), predominantly within the confines of the UK.

The Successful Candidate

We are willing to consider the following candidates:

  • Those holding a relevant industry recognised engineering or DSEAR qualification
  • Individuals who have gained practical experience within a 'pipes/pumps/tanks' industrial/hazardous process type environment, for example: operators/maintenance technicians/mechanical fitters etc.
  • Exceptional engineering graduates (ideally mechanically biased)

All candidates will be required to demonstrate an appetite, aptitude and capability for detailed work of this type. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding/experience of DSEAR, ATEX/UKEX, COMAH and Hazardous Area Classification, be it from research in preparation for the selection process or gained from your previous working experience. Ideally you will have relevant working experience within a professional engineering organisation, or within an industrial/hazardous process environment.

Essential Attributes/Qualifications/Experience
  • A team player with an appetite for personal development, a focus on continuous improvement, and an aspiration to become a DSEAR subject matter expert
  • Excellent time management skills to work with multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • Familiarity/basic grasp/understanding of DSEAR legislation and the ATEX/UKEX directives
  • Familiarity/basic grasp/understanding of ATEX/UKEX and COMAH
  • Hazardous Area Classification Drawings (HAC): Possess an understanding of the principles applied to HAC drawings, in terms of sources of release, zoning, product class etc.
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs): Ability to interpret P&IDs, recognising symbology and understanding the system functionality/process within
  • Customer facing – be confident, knowledgeable and presentable in terms of representing the business when engaging with our clients
  • Computer Aided Design: Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) – other CAD package experience considered
  • Office 365 experience
  • Full driving licence (own transport preferable)
Desirable, but Not Essential (in no particular order)
  • Previous working involvement/experience in both Hazardous Area Classification and/or DSEAR studies
  • Working experience of DSEAR Risk Assessments
  • HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA/SIL experience
  • P&ID survey/validation experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel software
  • Process safety experience
  • A broad understanding of (or experience in), engineering Asset Management
  • Asset condition assessment
  • CMMS systems
  • Maintenance Planning
  • Point Cloud/Site Modelling/Digital Twin
